Proporta Impact Protective Crystal Case for Palm Pre

I am fortunate to be able to get my hands on a GSM Palm Pre before the official launch in the Asia Pacific region and I must say it is a delightful PDA phone to use.
It has a nice flush front with capacitive touch screen and a shiny black black cover which is somewhat prone to fingerprint smudging.

Such a device can do with a good case and I am given the task of reviewing the Proporta Crystal Case for the Palm Pre. Proporta is no stranger to cases for PDAs and this is yet another in their line up for Palm’s first WebOS PDA phone.



The case comes in a simple silver and clear plastic protective container. The case itself comprises two parts, a tough plastic shell front piece which clips on to the front half of the Pre and essentially protects the side edges of the Pre. There is also a black back piece which clips on the rear and protects the entire back piece.

Both the halves when applied to do not add much bulk nor any significant weight to the Pre. The Pre feels somewhat more secure with the “armour” attached. However, as the front piece only protects the edges, you still need a screen protector. I find the back piece quite easy to remove which is important since there are times when one needs to replace the battery. There are cut-outs all over so access to the micro-USB port , mic and camera are not obstructed. The front piece however is not that easy to remove and one has to be careful with the plastic “grips” which may scratch the device.



Overall this is a decent protection for the Pre if you are looking for something which is lightweight and yet still shows off the Pre are sleek looks.
